Meet the team: Luke Brierley

Gidday Luke! Tell us a little bit about yourself!

Gidday! I'm Luke: Big fan of getting outside, music, seeking out quality brands, trying my hand at golf and spending time with good mates and family. 

If I could describe myself in three words it'd be hardworking, self-deprecating and pretty down-to-earth. 

What does a typical day at Goodlids look like for you?

I'm in charge of the day-to-day logistics and operations for Goodlids and Moreporks. Essentially, this is packing all our online orders, managing stock, handling customer service and overseeing the retail store during weekdays.

You're someone who is really passionate about the outdoors, where's your favourite spot in NZ and why?

More locally, it'd be Mount Eden / Maungawhau. Sitting on the bank of a volcano at sunset, with a 360° amber view of Auckland and the Waitemata Harbour, all from the centre of town.

What's your favourite part about working at Goodlids?

We're a small, ambitious team so it's cool to play a part in that dynamic. The environment is pretty open, so although my role is more operations, we have a bit of an open floor policy around sharing ideas around all aspects of the business! It's cool seeing some of those ideas come to fruition too!

I get a huge rush when new stock arrives too as I'm the first to look at new designs before they hit the store and website! 

Favourite Goodlids product?

Pretty tough, but it would have to be the Allpress Coffee Lid. It's a classic hemp lid with the Goodlids Guy logo and Allpress embroidery. I snagged mine after our pop-up event with them earlier this year. It's been worn to the ground. 

You're leaving us towards the end of the year for a big move overseas! Tell us a bit about what the future holds for you!

I'm super gutted to be finishing with the team but stoked to have booked a one way ticket abroad. The plan is to backpack South East Asia following the Banana Pancake Trail before relocating to Canada and working in the Rockies somewhere. Exciting times!
