Caring For Your Hemp Products
Hemp is one of the strongest and most durable natural fibers out there, but only if it is cared for consciously. Love your hemp, and it will love you harder and longer than any other fabric out there! Here are some tips to keep your hemp garment in great condition for a long period of time!
Hemp Hat Care
Opt to Spot Clean Your Hat First
If you have any marks or stains on your hat, opt to spot clean your hat with a damp cloth.
For Stubborn Stains, Soak in Cold Water
If your hat is really, really dirty, we recommend soaking in cold water with stain remover, or laundry detergent for 5-10 minutes, followed by a delicate hand wash and then line drying your hat.
If All Else Fails
If neither of the above solutions works to effectively clean your hat, then we recommend machine-washing only as a last resort. If you do choose to machine-wash your hat, wash it on a delicate cycle with cold water and then line dry it. Machine washing hats is fraught with danger though, and your hat may become damaged or shrink. It doesn't happen often, but it can happen.
Hemp Clothing Care
Wear More, Wash Less
Hemp is incredibly anti-microbial, and most of the time, you can just air your hemp t-shirt out. You only need to wash your hemp when absolutely necessary, and the more you wear it, the softer it gets!
Don't Let Stains Set
Hemp is really absorbent so it can be really hard to remove stains once they set in. To get stains out of hemp, directly apply detergent to the garment or pre-soak it with a natural detergent or stain-remover before washing.
Wash Cold
Wash cold, on a gentle/delicate cycle with similar coloured garments to protect those precious hemp fibres.
Save Power, Line Dry Your Hemp
Avoid putting your hemp clothing in the dryer at all times due to the risk of possible shrinkage and misshaping, instead opt to line-dry your hemp. Also, make sure to turn your vibrant or dark threads inside out to reduce the risk of fading.
